Tekken World Champion Arslan Ash Says Pakistan’s PUBG Ban is Unjust [Video]

Here’s what he said

Arsalan Ash

Arslan Ash is not only the best Tekken player in Pakistan, but he had proven his experience by winning the Player of the Year 2019 title. He became the Unified EVO Champion last year, and it seems like the gamer is not holding back over the PUBG ban in Pakistan.

Taking to his YouTube channel, Arsalan posted a video where he shared his thoughts on the temporary ban on the mobile phone app issued by PTA. The online multiplayer game received countless complaints which linked the game to multiple suicides, after which the ban was implemented.

However, Arslan believes this ban will lead to more unemployment in these difficult times.

The current situation, during crisis…there is so much unemployment and during lockdown people are still earning through esports.

Referring to the RedBull MEO’s first installment, the gamer reflected upon how snatching away this platform will stop Pakistanis from representing their country on international platforms.

There are companies who are making pathways for players, making a source of earning for them and PUBG ban is totally unacceptable because many players are earning through the game.

He says there are countless of players involved in ESports who deserve government support, but unfortunately, cricket is the only supported sport in the country.

There are so many talented players in Pakistan who deserve international exposure…but sponsors are focused on Cricket and esports is being neglected.

There is so much stuff happening in the esports scene in Pakistan and not only it’s being neglected, its being banned so that talent never makes an international leap.

The 23-year-old world champion of Tekken 7 pointed out the difficulties Pakistani teams have to face without the government support.

We are bringing international players in Pakistan on our own without any support from the government and you know how difficult it is to bring international players in Pakistan.

A lot of things are required which are difficult to acquire, getting the visa, and when they are here a lot of documents are required to keep them here.

Deeming the ban unjust, the gamer pointed out how the government is turning a blind eye towards talented young representatives of the country- especially during this time.

A team won’t be able to play internationally [after PUBG ban], who is responsible for it? A team works so hard and doesn’t make it to the international stage even after winning.

We cannot go and play because all events are cancelled due to coronavirus situation but the players who can still compete online cannot play because government is banning the only outlet available. This is unjust.

Stressing on the importance of contributions from these players, he said,

So much talent can come out [of Pakistan] but this [ban] will only cast it down. There might be more talented players than me in other games and it is imperative that they get exposure.

He pleaded the government to not ignore the fact that this might be some individuals’ only source of income. The ban might instigate a lot of underlying problems in the country. He said,

My humble request to the government is that during this lockdown, this difficult phase where there is so much suffering globally…if in this situation, players are making money [through PUBG streaming] don’t shut their source of income.

I am trying to play my part, government knows its part better. Unemployment, sponsorship, and [other] opportunities, many things matter behind the ban.
