Blockbuster Film Tenet Gets Delayed Again

Here’s why.

Looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer for Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated film Tenet. The film will now be released on Wednesday, August 12.

Tenet was originally set to release next month on July 17. It later shifted its release date to Friday, July 31 but now it’s August 12.

The delay of the movie comes due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, especially in the United States. The country has been hit hard by the virus and recently there has been a surge of new cases in the West and South. US states like Texas and Florida are experiencing record-setting numbers of new cases this past week.

Meanwhile, the hospitalizations are also up in California, which is a major market for Hollywood films looking to make money at the box office. So far New York and Los Angeles have not been given the go-ahead to reopen theaters. In a statement, Warner Bros. said,

“We are releasing the thriller mid-week to allow audiences to discover the film in their own time and it will play in theaters over a longer period of time beyond the normal run of blockbuster movies.”

Tenet features John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branaugh, Dimple Kapadia, Martin Donovan, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Himesh Patel, Clémence Poésy, Denzil Smith and Michael Caine. Be sure to check the film for its theatrical release on August 12.
