Hollywood is abuzz with excitement as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Emily Blunt are set to star in a crime drama film by the legendary filmmaker, Martin Scorsese.
This untitled film is set against the stunning backdrop of Hawaii, blending elements of classic crime narratives with a unique tropical twist.
The story centers on a ruthless Hawaiian crime boss, inspired by a real-life figure, who battles rival factions and corporate interests to establish control over the islands’ underworld.
With echoes of Scorsese’s previous works like Goodfellas and The Departed, this film promises to deliver a gripping tale of power and survival.
Written by Nick Bilton, the screenplay explores a turbulent time in the 1960s and 70s when the mob boss rose to prominence, facing off against mainland corporations and rival syndicates. The film aims to highlight the complexities of cultural preservation in the face of organized crime.
Producers include Scorsese, Johnson, Blunt, DiCaprio, and others, marking another significant collaboration for DiCaprio and Scorsese, who recently worked together on Killers of the Flower Moon.
It will certainly be interesting to see WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson portray someone other than a rugged adventurer in a jungle setting. Though his casting as a Hawaiian isn’t too far-fetched since he already played a similar role in the Moana series.
