‘Theft of Pakistani Music Continues’: Hadiqa Kiani Calls Out Indian Artists For Stealing Her Song ‘Boohey Barian’

Singer, songwriter Hadiqa Kiani calls out India for stealing her song “Boohey Barian”.

India may have one of the biggest film industries in the world, but their music industry has frequently proved to be a disgrace. Although there are many big Indian artists, most of their singers rose to fame stealing songs from Pakistani artists. For years, Indian singers have blatantly ripped off original songs from the likes of Atif Aslam, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and now Hadiqa Kiani.

Recently, Hadiqa Kiani took to Instagram to call out Indian singer Kanika Kapoor for shamelessly stealing her song “Boohey Barian“.

“Another day and another shameless rendition of the song my mother (Khawar Kiani) wrote. No one asked for my permission, no one has royalties,” Hadiqa explains, “they just take the song my mother wrote and I recorded and use it as an easy money making scheme.”

She even points out how cheaply these Indian music companies use bots and paid comments to boost the song.

This isn’t the first time Indian artist stole Hadiqa’s iconic song. Here are few more cheap knockoffs of “Boohey Barian” sung by random Indian artists without Hadiqa’s permission.

Hadiqa Kiani is one of the most prolific singer and songwriter from the Pakistani music industry. The legendary songstress has made a name for herself singing Urdu, Punjabi and even Pashto songs. Fans fondly remember her for putting out hit songs such as “Bhit Ja Bhitai”“Dupatta”, “Iss Baar Milo” and of course the iconic “Boohey Barian”. She is a recipient of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, one of the highest civilian awards in Pakistan, for her work.
