If you thought Abhey Khao was impressive, you’ll be blown away by this ‘chai dhaba‘ in district Dadu of Sindh. This Dadu chai cafe employs people who suffer from hearing and speaking impairments.

The place isn’t just famed for the chai and parathas in tehsil Mehar of district Dadu, but also due to its stellar customer service. Surprised? So are we!

Samaa TV morning show Naya Din brought this unique chai cafe to life in its recent episode. It is situated on Highway Road leading from Kashmore to Karachi.
Some of its employees started working here at a young age. A mute man who is employed there states that he began working at the chai cafe at age 14.
While many workplaces are hesitant to employ people with disabilities, this Dadu chai cafe chose to do the opposite. People’s disabilities do not determine their abilities, and we are happy to see it in action here.

Many of the deaf and mute employees at the Dadu chai cafe are living full lives, and continue to support their families as well.
They even have regular problems like the rest of us. Which is why we need to include them just like the rest of us.
Currently, the government has a 2% quota for people with all disabilities.We reckon things aren’t better when it comes to private workspaces and their hiring practices when it comes to disabled individuals.
Meanwhile, there’s also a lack of awareness regarding disabilities and how to prevent discrimination towards these people. The best way to inform the public is to start them young, by addressing the issue in the school curriculum.
