This Cover of Our National Anthem is Truly Out of this World

You need to hear it to believe it.

While some song covers do far better than the original, some classics should be better left alone as they are (like every Queen song ever).

But then there are times when human creativity comes up with the most amazing things. This cover of our national anthem happens to be one of them.

Lets have a listen to it here:

Now tell me if this doesn’t fire up your patriotic spirits sky high? Because it sure does!

This group’s redo of the national anthem is next level creativity, with the addition of traditional instruments like the tabla, not to mention the rhythmic clapping, both of which gives us warm fuzzy vibes about being Pakistanis.

The response on social media was pretty great.

Of course, this being the internet after all, there were some trolls commenting as well.

Nonetheless, this cover has got Pakistani social media talking, and that too in a good way.

The Best Cover of Them All

There have been plenty of covers of the national anthem, which was originally written by Hafeez Jalandhri, but this is the one for us. Previous covers have ranged from switching up vocals with singers, with vocal power houses like Shafqat Amanat Ali, to a mellow-sounding tune like Nirmal Roy’s cover of the anthem in Coke Studio.

Then there’s the pop version with Atif Aslam’s vocals that really gained a lot of traction.

There was also a collaboration between Pakistani and Indian artists who got together to sing both national anthems. That was more a progressive move than a creative one.

Then there was that rock version by Junoon, but this recent cover really beat that one out.

Till now the most creative effort yet had been by Adventure Pakistan, in a promo video where they had musical instruments from all over Pakistan tune in to create a culturally lit version of the national anthem.

All this does not take away the achievement of the blokes who collaborated on the recent cover. These guys are getting an amazing response on social media but something more concrete might actually be a great idea.Perhaps a studio will sign them up, and give this product of laid back genius the treatment it deserves. Who knows, it may just become the anthem we need for 2019.
