This Korean Pop Star Played a Cruel Joke On His Fans

Very out of line.

You know what April 1st means. It’s April Fools, obviously!

But this year is a lot different than the previous years. 2020 began with a bang of ‘coronavirus’, affecting millions and killing thousands of people all over the world. So if someone comes with an April fools prank this year, they are not doing things right.

Especially if you go around and tell people that you have contracted the virus, which is kind of insensitive. In a way, it’s nothing more than a grotesque because people have actually died because of this.

And because of his false announcement of being diagnosed with corona, K-pop idol Kim Jaejong has landed himself in yet another controversy.

Every Action Comes with a Consequence

Yesterday, K-pop idol Kim Jaejong of boy group JYJ made a public announcement on his Instagram that he has been infected with coronavirus. The singer also wrote that he is being hospitalized because of his ‘carelessness’ and not following the proper precautions.

The post was later deleted and he revealed that it was an April Fools prank. When his fans criticized him for being irresponsible and insensitive about the issue, he issued an apology letter. Kim Jaejong said that he only wanted to raise awareness about the pandemic.

“I am also personally aware that it was something that shouldn’t be done. First, over the social media post I wrote, I want to express my sincere apologies to the people who have suffered because of COVID-19 and to the people who were disrupted in their administrative work…

The current lack of awareness of response methods and the dangerousness of the virus outbreak. I wanted to convey that message because I hoped that people would be more aware and therefore we could minimize the number of people who suffer because of COVID-19.”

But the damage was already done. In fact, this is something that no one should do regardless of where they are living or what they do. Some actions have bigger consequences than you can ever imagine.
