This Music App is Looking To Revive Pakistani Classical Music

Enjoy music from a golden era.

Pakistan’s music stands tall around the world due to its impact on the listeners despite the language barrier. Coke Studio, Nescafe Basement or even Pepsi Battle of the Band have attracted people to Pakistani music worldwide.

Since music is one key component of our culture, an upcoming app Saarey Music aims to keep our music culture a source of joy, especially during times like these.

A New Kid on the Music Block

Saarey Music is the first streaming service for Pakistani classical music that provides users with unlimited ad-free access to exclusive and rare recordings of authentic live performances curated from the archives of the All Pakistan Music Conference.

The app is offered by Saarey Records, which is a social enterprise that believes in enriching the lives of people through the magic of classical music. A portion of all the profits goes back to support the classical music industry, not just in the country but also around the world.

Faraan Irfan, the founder and CEO of Saarey Music explained that the app was born out of his deep desire to revive the classical music genre and enrich lives with its magic.

“I was born into a family that has actively patronized, preserved and promoted Pakistani classical music since 1959. I have been fortunate to have had the pleasure of experiencing the great masters of our time through live performances. When I actively started working in the All Pakistan Music Conference – the volunteer organization for Pakistani classical music that my grandfather started and my mother now runs – I found out that this part of Pakistan’s culture is seriously strained for funds.

Both organizations and artists struggle and many in the newer generation choose not to pursue it as a viable career choice. This adversely affects the continuity of the music. This is despite the fact that the quality of Pakistani music is comparable to, if not better than, the best in the world. This led to a deep desire to do something for the artists and to make classical music thrive again.”

Discussing the platform’s accessibility, Faraan said that anyone with an Android or iOS device can download the Saarey Music. Given the fact that their aim is to help the artists as well, there is a free trail period, after which users need to choose paid subscription packages to continue using the service. The app also has multiple online payment options including; VISA or MasterCard, Google Play or iTunes account and are further working to add more mobile payment options and even a cash on delivery option in the near future!

“Our rare content continues to be a key reason; customers come and stay with us and we are doubling down on that. Customers have written to us thanking us for making their time during COVID-19 easier and we are delighted that we are able to do our part to help during this crisis.”

So hurry up and download this amazing app. What Pakistani classic are you looking forward to listening? Share your playlist in the comments below.
