This Pizza-Making Robot Can Make 300 Pies Every Hour! [Video]

This is amazing!

The future of pizza is here! We’ve all wondered about robots and how cool would it be to have one that would make us any kind of food we want. Everyone, including our parents, thought of it as foolish childhood fantasy based on watching too much cartoons. Well, not anymore!

Robot Pizzas!

After three years of secretly working on a robotic food system, a Seattle based start-up Picnic, has recently came up with a robot that assembles custom pizzas with hardly any human intervention.

Previously known as Vivid Robotics and Otto Robotics, Picnic has joined the restaurant industry in style with their unique robotics system.

“Food is hard. It’s highly variable. We learned a lot about food science in the process of developing the system,” – Picnic CEO Clayton Wood.

Many restaurants face problems such as slow productivity or difficulty in finding a competent workforce. Picnic’s robotics platform comes as revolutionary step into the future. This innovation not only reduces labor costs, but also increases productivity.

Putting The ‘Fast’ in ‘Fast Food’

Most customers complain that it usually takes around half an hour or more for their pizza to be ready. Well, Picnic’s new robot can assemble around 300 12-inch pizzas in an hour! This kind of speed and efficiency puts the other fast-food restaurants to shame.

How Does It Work?

Once an order has been placed, the digital computer enters the pizza order in queue. The robot starts making the pie as soon as the dough has been placed. The ‘pizza bot’ has sensors that allows it make adjustments if the pizza pie is even slightly off-center.

After the pizza has been assembled, the baking, sauce preparation – the real art of pizza – is done by a small group of competent people. If you’re wondering how can something so artificial taste good or even look like the real deal? See for yourself:

The ingredients are fresh and the pizza is delicious and warm! What else do you need?

It is not entirely a foreign concept as machines have been making frozen pizzas for many years, but Picnic’s take on the concept is very different. It is small enough to fit in any kitchen and the recipes for different pizzas can easily be tweaked to cater to any restaurant’s choice.

A Look In To The Future

The future is looking good for pizzas, but we have to wonder what does that do for all pizza chefs around the world that learned the art of pizza from their elders. And most importantly, how will the robot feel when they find out that their whole purpose is to just make pizzas.

This has the making of a dangerous robot uprising! But for now, let’s grab a slice and enjoy some good pizza.
