Tom Cruise Becomes First Person to Shoot Movie in Outer Space

The Head of Universal Pictures confirmed the crazy new idea that involves Elon Musk’s Space X.

Hollywood’s heartthrob Tom Cruise will be the first human to literally perform a spacewalk. Tom Cruise and Elon Musk’s Space X are working on a project with NASA that will be the first narrative feature action-adventure film to be shot in outer space.

The head of Universal Pictures, Donna Langley, shed light on the project in an interview with BBC and revealed that Tom Cruise will be starring in an action movie directed by Doug Liman.

Speaking about the whole Tom Cruise in space idea, Langley said,

Tom Cruise is taking us to space. He’s taking the world to space. That’s the plan. We have a great project in development with Tom that does contemplate him doing just that. Taking a rocket up to the space station and shooting and hopefully being the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the space station.

Langley also revealed that while the movie will see the Mission Impossible series star in outer space, it “actually [mostly] takes place on Earth, and then the character needs to go up to space to save the day”.

She also described the Top Gun actor’s character as “a down-on-his-luck guy who finds himself in the position of being the only person who could save Earth”.

Tom Cruise, is particular. in preparing the stunts he does, which are frightening to watch anyway. He has hung from a helicopter, has hung from the side of a jet plane during takeoff in Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, and scaled the Burj Khalifa in Dubai to perform stunts 123 floors u in Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol. After all these scary stunts the star is all ready to walk in outer space and add a new dimension to Hollywood cinematography.
