As Top Gun: Maverick hits theaters in Pakistan, of course, its earnings surpassed those of the other five Pakistani movies being screened.

The Hollywood blockbuster’s earnings are being registered as the second biggest opening weekend. With almost Rs. 3.5 crore on just opening weekend, even Ghabrana Nahi Hai stands at 9 crores followed by Dum Mustam at 7.5 crores and Parde Mein Rehne Do at 4.3 crores.

As per reports from film trade analyst, Ali Zain, the Top Gun sequel has managed to bag bu=ig bucks at the box office despite a limited release in the beginning and then some.

By Saturday it had already become the third highest-grossing release.

Compared to Pakistani films it was definitely leagues ahead.

So how much more did it make compared to Pakistani Eid-ul-Fitr releases?

It seems allotting more screens to Pakistani movies didn’t affect Top Gun: Maverick prospects at all.

Could Pakistani filmmakers register protests over the Hollywood film’s earnings even now?

Interestingly in Sindh, cinema houses are obligated to allocate the majority of screens for local films. After the popularity of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Dr. Strange in the Madness of the Multiverse irked some Pakistani filmmakers they registered their protest.

They held a press conference to protest why their films were being pulled off screens to make room for the MCU installment. Even approaching the Sindh High Court. The SHC later ruled in their favor stating that cinema houses must allot the majority of screens to local films.

This was an effort to level the playing field between Pakistani film and foreign film. However, audiences just asked Pakistani filmmakers to produce better content.
