Billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani donated a staggering INR 1 billion (Rs. 3.17 billion) to charity in celebration of his younger son’s wedding.
Sources close to Adani revealed that the donation will be used to build a network of affordable, world-class hospitals, medical colleges, K-12 schools, and advanced global skill academies that will ensure employability.
His son, Jeet Adani, tied the knot with his fiancée Diva Shah in an intimate ceremony held at Shantigram, Ahmedabad.
The wedding was a private affair, attended only by close family members and a small circle of friends. True to the family’s values, the rituals were conducted in accordance with traditional Jain and Gujarati customs.
Unlike the extravagant celebrity-studded weddings often associated with India’s elite, the Adani family opted for a simple and traditional celebration. Gautam Adani himself acknowledged the limited guest list in a heartfelt tweet:
With the blessings of Almighty God, Jeet and Diva got married today. It was a small and extremely private function, so we could not invite all the well-wishers even if we wanted to, for which I apologise.
The billionaire also shared pictures of the newlyweds, seeking blessings and love for the couple.
Here’s hoping this gesture inspires others to think beyond opulence and use their wealth to create meaningful change in the world. After all, what better way to celebrate love than by spreading it far and wide?
