Pakistani actress Zoya Nasir has called off her engagement with German vlogger Christian Betzmann. The announcement came after a massive controversy that erupted after Betzmann made comments about Pakistanis supporting Palestine.
Taking to her Instagram, Zoya Nasir revealed that they are no longer engaged to be married due to his disrespect of her religion, country, and culture.
“It’s with a heavy heart I’m announcing that Christian Betzmann and I are no longer engaged to be married. His sudden change in stance towards my culture, my country, my people and insensitivity towards my religion has lead me to take this difficult and irrevocable decision,” she wrote.
She also wished Chris a ‘bright and happy future’ and requested privacy during this difficult time.
“There are certain religious and social boundaries that can’t be crossed no matter what, hence, the decision to part ways. Humility, tolerance and respect towards each other are the virtues that we must always adhere to. I look upon my Allah to provide me with the strength to deal with this worldly emotional wreck.”
Zoya Nasir and Christian Betzmann call it quits
A few days ago, the vlogger shared his opinions on the Israel-Palestine issue. According to him,
“Social media will never win against government and politics. Sharing something which is all over mainstream media won’t make any difference.”
Also,
“Stop feeling guilty for others when you’re littering your own country, not helping your own people and community.”
Betzmann did not just criticize Pakistan but his remarks that change can never be brought through social media had hurt the sentiments of Pakistanis. The vlogger received a lot of backlash when he made critical comments against those who are raising their voice for Palestine.
YouTuber and influencer Daniyal Sheikh explained in his recent video why this is an issue and how Betzmann have been ‘scamming’ his audience.

Christian Betzmann releases the first statement after the break-up
Following the controversy and their break-up, the YouTuber released an official statement, clearing his stance on the Israel-Palestine issue. He also said that there is nothing wrong with prayers, in fact ‘prayers are beautiful’, but they are useless without action.
Furthermore, his love for Pakistan doesn’t eliminate the fact that it is a third world country. Betzmann believes that we should accept our mistakes in order to fix them.
It seems that he had turned off his comments due to the public outrage, but he has now turned them on as he wants to spread love and positivity.

Zoya Nasir and Christian Betzmann got engaged in February of this year after the vlogger proposed her in Bahamas. The YouTuber also embraced Islam and made a vlog of his Shahada as well.
After the controversy, there has also been a sharp decline in the German influencer’s followers from Pakistan.
