Back in 2019, Moor director Jamshed Mahmood AKA Jami Azaad shook the nation with his rape allegations against the Chief Executive of Dawn. The matter fell silent after a while and now the filmmaker is raising the issue again.
The Tum Yeh Kehtay Ho Ab Koee Charah Nahin creator talked about fighting his legal battle alone. No, he didn’t flee the country to dodge legal proceedings.
As the allegations picked up coverage, Dawn CEO Hameed Haroon filed a defamation lawsuit against the filmmaker. The matter fell silent after a while, and people speculated the lawsuit might be the reason.
Fighting His Legal Battle Alone
The ace director also left the country and wasn’t active on social media. Now Jami Azaad clarifies that’s not the case. According to Galaxy Lollywood, the director shared why he temporarily disabled his Facebook on the advice of family and friends.
“I had deactivated my Facebook for some time because my family and friends stated that I should, but now I’ve realized I need to be vocal about everything.”

As for word that he had ‘fled the country‘, the O21 filmmaker clarified that he’s been in Pakistan for almost a year now fighting his case.
“I would like to take this opportunity to tell people that I’m in Pakistan for the past nine months and I have been regularly attending my hearings and fighting my case. Alone.”
He opened up about being abandoned to deal with the lawsuit alone while others apologized to those they had accused. Even from the biz aside from Maheen Khan and Mehreen Jabar no one came out to support him covertly or overtly. He even talked about losing his ‘guy gang’.
Jami Will No Longer Remain Silent
The lawsuit Hameed Haroon filed against Jami Azaad demanded that;
“Jami issue an unconditional apology on all social media platforms that he had used to accuse Hameed Haroon and monetary compensation against the allegations.”

Even now he is being pushed towards apologizing but the director feels that he cannot let all the other #METOO victims with him down.
“I am being told to apologize but since I have a lot of other victims backing me up, I have realized this isn’t my case alone and I have to keep fighting. I’m currently fighting three cases all alone, and I intend to stand strong. I will not spare anyone,” said Jami.
He is currently fighting a case against his childhood friend of 13 years. But he won’t back down.
“I have repeatedly told them to put me in jail if they want to but I will not call off my case or apologize.”
