Dur-e-Fishan Saleem is currently portraying the role of Aiman in the ARY Digital drama Pardes. She is representing the second generation in the drama and is the daughter of Zubaida and Ahsan (played by Shaista Lodhi and Sarmad Khoosat respectively).

Pardes made a good start and we are really looking forward to how the two women change their perspective along the course of the drama.

Dur-e-Fishan Saleem recently sat in an interview with BBC Urdu to share her stance on the portrayal of women on television.

“I think women shape the whole narrative on our TV,” she said.

According to the Dil Ruba actress, the representation of women in our dramas is correct, because as a society we praise those who are returning back to the men who belittle them. However, this representation needs to change so that it makes a difference in our society and people start to induce a change in their mindset.

Relating it to the drama Pardes, she said,

“Zubaida is glorified because she is compromising. It isn’t a slight compromise that we all should make but she is compromising to a point that she is neglecting her children.”

In a previous interview, Dur-e-Fishan revealed that she is a continuation of her mother (Zoobi) in the drama. Does it mean that she will make the same compromises that Zoobi made?

“Our [Aiman and Ebad ‘s] track is different from Zoobi and Ahsan’s track but Aiman is a continuation of Zoobi, so I think you’ll find a few similarities. The story will be more about Aiman dealing with her childhood traumas that shaped her.”
