Among many celebrities, Yashma Gill also called out the inhumane treatment of animals, particularly dogs. The recent euthanization of two pet dogs in Karachi’s DHA caused an uproar on social media and Yashma also believes that the dogs suffered because of their owner’s negligence.

On June 16, two German Shepherds attacked an advocate in Karachi’s Defence area while he was on a walk. The victim was severely injured and the dogs’ owner was booked in a case. The two parties had come to a  ‘compromise agreement‘, which included conditions that the two dogs will be euthanized and their owner will donate to an animal welfare organization.

Yashma Gill urges people to train their dogs

According to the compromise agreement, the two dogs were put to death on Monday, but the public has heavily criticized the incident. Pakistani actress Yashma Gill also lent her voice to the cause by sharing a lengthy note with her followers.

“Now that the death sentence has been executed it’s ironic to see how quick ‘justice’ was served. It was so easy to place a death sentence on animals who could’ve never been put to trial,” she wrote.

“I urge people to please train their dogs it is extremely important. What an untrained dog does at the end of the day is no ones fault especially not the dog’s. But for those who keep them as their pets, it is their fault if they do not train or handle them properly. The owners should take responsibility and be punished instead.”

The Phaans actress has called for authorities to keep a check on the buying and selling of animals and suggested that the owners be visited every few months to ensure that the animal is being raised and trained the right way.
