Young Skater Girl Kicks Off Shyok Winter Sports Festival in Gilgit-Baltistan [Video]

The 2023 Shyok Winter Sports Festival in Gilgit-Baltistan kicked off on Tuesday in Skardu with an ice hockey event.

A clip of a young girl skiing over a frozen lake waving the Pakistani flag during the opening ceremony went viral on social media.

The festival’s main events feature exciting events like yak racing, Indus off-road rally, and rafting. A food street will also be available with delicious traditional dishes on display to satisfy the thousands of hungry tourists.

Shyok Winter Festival, which is being organized by District Administration Ghanche in Khaplu City Park, will feature musical and cultural shows, including bonfires, and rock climbing. To host a women’s expo and food festival, the administration has set up a tent village. Hotel Association Ghanche will provide free hotel accommodations for guests.

Shyok Winter Festival was organized to promote winter tourism and winter sports in Gilgit-Baltistan. The three-day festival will end on Thursday with an enthralling game of ice polo.
