Zahid Ahmed Says Chilgozas Should Be Kept in the Bank

We agree with him to be honest.

It has been a tough time living in Kaptaan’s ‘Naya Pakistan’. With taxes and prices soaring sky-high, we have to think twice before enjoying even small snacks such as pine nuts! One of the most favorite winter-time snacks in Pakistan, pine nuts, or commonly called ‘chilgozay’, have fast become a delicacy that only a few can afford to enjoy.

Recently, the popular dry fruit’s price has risen to astronomical heights. So much that people can’t help but be surprised and have a laugh about this absurdity. Why is it so absurd you ask? Well, ‘chilgozay’ are now retailing for a stupendous Rs.7,500 per kilo!

Yes, you heard it right and that’s just nuts! (pun intended) These nuts are almost valued at a price of a precious gem or metal! This soaring price has created a new crisis – ‘chilgozay chor’! Several incidents have been reported of people stealing pine nuts!
