New Private Airline to Launch Flights for Remote Areas of KP

South Air, a private airline in Pakistan, has announced plans to launch new flight routes connecting Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) and Chitral with major cities across the country, aiming to improve air connectivity in remote areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

South Air Chairman Kanwar Muhammad Tariq shared the expansion plan during a meeting with KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, stating that the airline intends to operate daily flights to DI Khan, which he described as an important hub for regional connectivity.

He also confirmed plans for regular flights to Chitral, emphasizing the goal of linking smaller and remote regions with Pakistan’s broader air travel network.

The airline further plans to operate domestic routes connecting Peshawar with Karachi, Quetta, and Lahore.

According to the company, all operational, technical, and administrative preparations for nationwide flight operations have been completed.

South Air recently conducted a trial flight from Karachi to Gwadar, marking the beginning of its domestic expansion.

KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the initiative and assured full cooperation, saying improved air connectivity would help promote tourism and business activity in the province.

He noted that several areas of KP still lack aviation facilities and expressed hope that new flight routes would boost economic activity and employment opportunities.

During his recent visit to Dera Ismail Khan International Airport, the governor said rehabilitation work was progressing, with runway carpeting already completed and remaining upgrades expected soon.

He also highlighted plans for a proposed Green Field International Airport spanning more than 1,700 acres with the capacity to handle over one million passengers annually.
