Pakistan Women Exit T20I Tri-Series After Rain Washout Against West Indies

The Pakistan women’s cricket team have been knocked out of the Ireland-hosted T20I tri-series after persistent rain washed out their match against West Indies at Castle Avenue.

The abandoned match confirmed a bottom-placed finish for Pakistan, who have only two points from three matches. Even if Pakistan beat host nation Ireland in their final fixture at the same venue on Thursday, they can only reach a maximum of six points.

The washout largely benefited Ireland, who remain in contention to win the tri-series. A victory over Pakistan in the upcoming match would take Ireland’s points tally to 12, two more than West Indies.

Rain had also delayed the start of the abandoned fixture by 70 minutes. After a strong effort from the ground staff to make the field ready for play, West Indies captain Chinelle Henry won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled against disciplined West Indian bowling and reached 111/7 in 16.5 overs before another rain interruption. The second spell of rain eventually proved decisive and forced the match to be abandoned.

Middle-order batter Aliya Riaz was Pakistan’s top scorer with 24 runs off 23 balls. Captain Fatima Sana remained unbeaten on 21 from 21 deliveries.

Rameen Shamim and Ayesha Zafar scored 17 runs each, while Gull Feroza made 10. They were the only other Pakistan batters to reach double figures.

For West Indies, Ashmini Munisar and Chinelle Henry took two wickets each. Zaida James, Afy Fletcher and Qiana Joseph also claimed one wicket apiece.
