ISLAMABAD: The city administration is set to complete two interchanges at 7th Avenue and Rawal Dam Chowk in accordance with the timelines set by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and they will become operational on August 14th.
The relevant forces worked tirelessly to finish both projects within months under the direction of Chairman CDA Amir Ali Ahmed, and as a consequence, the projects are near completion.
According to sources, Member Engineering CDA, Syed Munawar Shah, has been instructed to stay on-site and personally oversee the construction activity in order to ensure the timely completion of these projects.
On Wednesday, Chairman CDA Amir Ali Ahmed also visited Rawal Dam Interchange to assess the work being done, instructing the relevant formations to ensure both efficiency and quality of work.
Details indicate that the main flyovers and slipways on both projects have been finished, and they are now ready for traffic.
Alongside both the projects, a massive plantation and landscaping drive have also been actively undertaken as per the PM’s instructions.
On August 14, PM Shehbaz Sharif is anticipated to officially launch both projects.
A few weeks back, the Prime Minister visited and observed the progress being made on the interchange that was still under construction.
Following a briefing, it was agreed to switch the contractor and give the project to FWO with instructions to begin construction within 72 hours.
It is to mention here that the Rawal Dam Interchange project includes an overhead bridge, a number of slip roads, one underpass, and a designated underpass linking Margalla Town.
On the other hand, commuters at the 7th Avenue junction have had to deal with a traffic jam and drawn-out signals, especially during work and school hours, and it was decided to award the 7th Avenue Interchange to NLC without conducting an open bid process in order to facilitate its early completion.
