ISLAMABAD: The accountability court (AC) has set October 7 as the date to announce its decision in the Bahria Icon Tower case against property tycoon Malik Riaz and others.
While hearing the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference against Malik Riaz and others regarding the illegal allotment of land of Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim to M/s Galaxy Construction (Pvt) Ltd (Bahria Icon Tower), judge Muhammad Bashir stated that the court would deliver its judgment on Friday.
During the previous hearing, the court directed NAB to determine whether the value of the plot on which this case is based is less than Rs. 500 million.
Furthermore, NAB had already filed a reference against Malik Riaz and others for the alleged illegal allotting of land in Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim to M/s Galaxy Construction (Pvt) Ltd. (Bahria Icon Tower).
As per details, other accused include:
- Manzoor Qadir Kaka, former chief controller of construction
- Ahmad Ali Riaz, former director and chief executive officer (CEO) of Bahria Town
- Yousaf Baloch, former senator
- Dinshaw H Anklesaria, director M/s Galaxy Construction (Pvt) Ltd
- Zain Malik, director M/s Galaxy Construction (Pvt) Ltd
- Waqas Riffat, director M/s Galaxy Construction (Pvt) Ltd
According to NAB, the accused allegedly allotted a welfare plot, resulting in massive losses to the national treasury.
The report of the JIT investigating the fake accounts case also discovered that the Bahria Icon Tower project is being constructed by M/s Galaxy Construction (Pvt) Ltd on the valuable Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim land which is one such discovery where land grabbing and money laundering became very apparent.
