PESHAWAR: On Thursday, the Railways administration seized 2.4 acres of commercial land near City Railways Station as part of its anti-encroachment campaign which is valued at more than Rs. 150 million.
As per the details, heavy machinery was employed during a 6-hour operation, which was overseen by the deputy director of property and land, DSP Sana-ur-Rehman, and other authorities.
Furthermore, Illegal constructions that had been erected on railroad property in Alamgir Bagh were demolished and notices were issued in presence of police contingents to prevent any unfavorable events.
The sources informed us that despite the lease expiring, the land squatters continued to occupy the property illegally and ignored multiple legal notices to do so.
Besides, Pakistan Railways also decided to step up its ongoing anti-encroachment campaign against land grabbers throughout the country to reclaim its land.
The details show that railway land is encroached on by various people, organizations, and even commercial enterprises that had been using it for residential, commercial, and agricultural purposes for decades.
