Administrator Karachi Briefs Over Road Network, Traffic Woes of City

KARACHI: According to Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman, the administrator of Karachi, road building and maintenance are ongoing and 106 of the KMC-managed roads have been declared motorable.

During a visit to Surjani Chowrangi, North Nazimabad, Nazimabad, Jail Chowrangi, China Ground Kashmir Road, and Sohrab Goth, he made this statement, along with officers from the relevant departments.

According to him, maintaining decent road conditions is one of the top goals to maintain a constant flow of traffic.

To keep these roads illuminated at night, he said that the street lights had also been maintained, adding that the reduction in street crime was a result of the motorable roads and good street lighting.

According to the Administrator, there is a lot of traffic strain on Karachi’s roadways, and it is only feasible to reduce this pressure if the roads are in decent shape.

He stated that there were certain locations where the U-turn needed to be changed, and better outcomes would be attained if the service road was also mended beside some routes.

Additionally, he also added that there was ongoing construction on the red line BRTS from Numaish Chowrangi to Safoora, which was causing problems for the locals.

The Administrator claimed that hundreds of thousands of people would utilize the red line bus service once the city undergoes what he compared to surgery and of course, there would be pain in the surgery.

Besides, Rahman added that the responsible department had been instructed to expedite work and finish the project within the allotted time.

He also urged expediting the development work being done in Gulistan-e-Johar so that the projects could be finished in the shortest amount of time possible.

  1. There was no need of BRT in Karachi . This is causing so much pershani for travelers in Gulshan area . Instead of BRT where so much khudai is done simple good red buses on timely bases could be started and road conditions should had been perfect that’s it no need of BRT . For example in London there is no BRT but buses all over London
