‘BEZs on Track to Completion, Will Create 25,000 Jobs for Youth in Bannu and Surrounding Districts’

PESAWAR: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KP-EZDMC), Javed Iqbal Khattak, has disclosed that Bannu Economic Zone (BEZ) is on track to be completed soon, with 80% of the construction work already finished.

BEZ is a massive project spanning over 408 acres of land and is located near several districts, including Lakki Marwat, North Waziristan, Karak, and D.I.Khan.

As per the details, the construction of road infrastructure, water supply, boundary wall, and security gate has already been completed.

Once the project is fully operational, it will house 260 industrial units, creating over 25,000 job opportunities for the youth in the surrounding districts.

The BEZ project primarily focuses on mineral and agricultural sector units, particularly those related to chromites, copper, and PVC pipe manufacturing.

With a literacy rate of 80.5% in the Bannu Division, the economic zone is expected to provide skilled labor from the native population of 1.2 million.

The CEO also shared that BEZ is expected to attract foreign investment for Bannu and the surrounding districts of Lakki Marwat, Karack, and Waziristan.

The proximity of the Indus Expressway with BEZ is considered a valuable asset, connecting this part of the region with Afghanistan through the Ghulam Khan border.

The Bannu Economic Zone offers developed land, integrated infrastructure, a business-friendly environment for sustainable industrial growth, process innovation according to international standards, and a dedicated facilitation office at the zone.

The zone is easily accessible via the N-55 highway and N-5 Bannu link road, making it an ideal vantage point for investors from Peshawar, D.I. Khan, and Divisions.

Once the western route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is constructed, accessibility will further improve.

The industrial products manufactured at BEZ are expected to be in high demand in local markets of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the Central Asian States.

Overall, the completion of BEZ is expected to have a significant positive impact on the region’s economy, creating job opportunities and promoting economic growth.
