CDA Concludes BuP Awards for C-15 Sector to Expedite Development

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has successfully finalized the pending awards of the C-15 sector, paving the way for smooth construction work in the area.

The CDA had acquired the sector back in 2008, but delays occurred when the agency failed to announce the built-up property (BuP) awards after the land acquisition.

This resulted in a setback for the construction activities in the sector.

In recent years, development work commenced in the sector but faced resistance from locals whose BuP awards in the Dhoke Baba Ashraf area were still pending.

To address this issue, the CDA announced the BuP awards in 2016, categorizing around 170 cases in the A list (approved cases), while approximately 350 cases were placed in the B list due to incomplete documentation.

In a recent development, the court of Deputy Commissioner CDA, Sardar Asif, announced the BuP awards for Dhoke Baba Ashraf, declaring 287 landowners eligible for compensation after fulfilling the requirements.

However, CDA officials noted that half of these individuals had already received compensation in the form of land, while the remaining individuals would be provided plots in exchange for their built-up cases.

Furthermore, the deputy commissioner’s court assessed the cases in the B list, approving only 174 out of 337 cases for shifting to the A list, and rejecting the remaining cases.

In the court order, it was stated, “Since a considerable amount of time has passed and numerous opportunities have been given to the petitioners, their cases are now closed, and no further action is required.”

An official from the DC court highlighted the significance of announcing both the land award and BuP award simultaneously for any given sector.

With the resolution of the land and BuP awards for the C-15 sector, this matter has now been effectively settled.

Deputy Commissioner Sardar Asif emphasized that in the past, the CDA’s practice of announcing partial awards had resulted in extensive litigation.

He commended the efforts of the estate wing and DC court staff for their weeks-long endeavor to finalize the awards for the C-15 sector.

Following computerized balloting through Nadra, the CDA will proceed to allocate plots to the eligible recipients.
