CDA Cracks Down on Unauthorized Water Supply Connections

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has intensified its efforts to tackle the issue of illegal water supply connections in Islamabad.

Following the instructions of CDA Chairman Noor ul-Amin Mengal, the deputy director general of the Water Management Wing conducted a crackdown on these unauthorized connections.

In a recent press statement, it was revealed that approximately 40 additional illegal water supply connections were disconnected in the Bari Imam and Quaid-e-Azam University areas.

Furthermore, it was also discovered that some of these connections had been reconnected after being initially severed.

With a total of around 150 connections now disconnected, the CDA has directed the filing of First Investigation Reports (FIRs) and the imposition of heavy fines on individuals who have reinstated these illegal connections.

Over the past few months, these unauthorized connections have significantly impacted the water supply to Islamabad, resulting in a decrease in water pressure across various sectors.

The excessive number of illegal connections has caused a reduction in water pressure in the main water lines and a shortage of water reaching the major tanks in Islamabad, affecting the civilian sectors.

Since the CDA initiated action against these illegal connections, there has been a noticeable improvement in water pressure in the main water lines.

During the operation, the deputy director general of the Water Management Wing emphasized strict instructions to the staff, emphasizing the immediate disconnection of all remaining illegal connections.
