CDA Plans to Award Contract for Park Road Overhaul

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will shortly award the contract for renovating and enlarging Park Road as the Rawal Dam interchange has already been completed.

Only government-run organizations were invited to submit bids, according to the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority’s 42(F) regulations, and two companies, National Logistics Cell (NLC) and Railcop, participated in the process.

The sources said that Railcop’s proposal was higher than the NLC’s, which was for about Rs. 1.9 billion, while the offer will be given to the CDA chairman for approval or rejection following the completion of legal requirements.

The CDA will issue orders to formally begin work on the project when the proposal is approved, according to the authorities.

According to CDA, the project would enlarge and renovate Park Road from Rawal Chowk to Tramari Chowk and is expected to be finished in 6 months.

The 7.4 km-long route has experienced traffic congestion as a result of the rapid expansion in residential and commercial building construction, including the establishment of educational institutions.

Whereas, several old residential areas, such as Lakhwal, Banigala, Rawal Town, Shahzad Town, Tramri, and Chatta Bakhtawar are fully dependent on this road.

The road currently has 2 lanes that are in poor condition. According to CDA authorities, the PC-I would add one extra lane on each side to make it a 3-lane artery and renovate and maintain the current lanes.

The PC-I of the aforementioned project was accepted by the CDA’s Development Working Party (DWP) in September of this year.

An officer from CDA told that the bid would be decided upon by the civic organization when the bid review procedure is complete.

He expressed anticipation that the CDA would give orders to begin the project within the next several weeks following the bid’s clearance.

It is worth mentioning that the government completed the Rawal Dam interchange, flyover, and underpass project on a war footing since a private contractor had earlier abandoned the project halfway through.

However, because Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had also kept an eye on the project, Frontier Works Organization (FWO) completed the remaining 50% of the work in record time.

Comments

  1. Great work is going on in Shahbaz Shareef sb speed master and all work done in record time is so much appreciated, Yes Pakistan need no Fassadi at the moment only hard work can be the voice of the time, well done Shahbaz Shareef and his team.

  2. Good step but it would.be good if road is also cleared and repair some patches from taramari to nilore on Lehtrar road. Traffic congestion is due to the food stalls and stands on the mid of the road. DC should take action to make smooth flow of the traffic.

  3. A very timely decision. Hopefully middle green belt will also be used in widening in order to save maximum trees from sides .

  5. I also propose to enlarge/ widen road from Kashmir/Tamari chowk to malpur, the starting point of Barakhou bypass. This will smooth the traffic flow coming from Barakhou and help to reduce the traffic pollution.
