CDA Reconstitutes Inquiry Committee to Probe Quotation System Scam

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has formed a new committee to verify the legality of work done through quotations, even though the probe into a multi-billion quotations scam is still incomplete.

According to sources, the CDA uses the quotation system to carry out emergency work, such as streetlight and water line maintenance, without floating tenders.

However, under the system, CDA is not allowed to exceed Rs. 500,000. CDA’s various wings allegedly carried out development work through quotations instead of the open bidding process, allegedly causing losses to the exchequer.

CDA formed an inquiry committee last year to investigate the scam, which will scrutinize projects executed over the previous fiscal years.

However, the probe into the current financial year is still ongoing.

CDA has reconstituted the inquiry committee to verify matured liabilities accumulated on account of work executed in various formations.
