ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman, Noorul Amin Mengal, has announced that a significant budget of Rs20 billion will be allocated towards the uplift of rural areas in Islamabad.

Speaking at an introductory meeting with the media, the chairman stated that a public-centric approach would be adopted to address the issues faced by the masses.

Mengal added that the Central Development Working Party will approve the PC-1 for the uplift of rural areas at the upcoming meeting.

He highlighted that the development of rural areas would include the construction of roads, pavement of streets, and the creation of parks and playgrounds.

The chairman further stated that the new management has taken on the challenge of cracking down on encroachment, with emergency measures being taken.

He also announced that possession of 4,000 plots in Sector I-15 would be handed over to their owners, with development work set to begin in Sector E-12.

In addition, to breathe new life into Islamabad, the civic body will be hosting the Islamabad Literary Festival from March 17 to 19.

Additionally, the authority has undergone structural reforms, creating three independent agencies, namely the Solid Waste Management Agency, Building Control Authority, and Parks and Horticulture Authority, to improve service delivery.
