Chairman CDA Makes Physical Verification of Development Projects Mandatory Before Fund Approval

The Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Noorul Amin Mengal, has recently announced that ground physical verification of development projects will be mandatory before funds are approved.

The decision was conveyed to the engineering wing of the CDA through a letter, which outlined that the Chairman’s office would not approve any fund release until the Member Inspection had completed a physical verification.

The move aims to promote transparency and accountability and ensure that a project’s physical progress correlates with the financial demand.

The Member Inspection will visit the site and submit a report to the Chairman, confirming the physical progress achieved. The entire process is expected to be completed within three days.

The decision comes at a time when the CDA is already under scrutiny for a multi-billion scam, where certain directorates conducted development projects without calling for tenders.

The works were allegedly done based on a quotation, and it is feared that duplication payment cases may also surface during the ongoing probe.

This move is expected to promote accountability, prevent corruption, and ensure development projects are completed on time and within budget
