CM Vows to Open Kalma Chowk Underpass on 23rd March

LAHORE: The under-construction Kalma Chowk underpass will be fully opened for traffic on Pakistan Day, March 23, announced Caretaker Minister for Communications & Works and Excise Punjab, Bilal Afzal.

During a review meeting of the CBD Punjab Boulevard and Underpass project, the minister was briefed on the progress of the development work by the CEO of Lahore Central Business District Authority and the Chief Engineer.

Afzal stressed that the project must meet global safety standards and that there must be no compromise on safety.

He commended the fact that there have been no accidents in such a big construction project so far.

The minister directed officials to work together day and night to complete the project on time and urged Nespak to provide all possible cooperation in achieving the set goals.

According to the briefing, the excavation of the Ali Zeb Road underpass will be completed on March 19, and the road carpeting will begin on March 20.

The CEO assured the minister that every possible effort would be made to complete the work by March 23.

The opening of the underpass will come as a relief to the public, as the minister has stressed that completed sections of the project will be opened for traffic as soon as possible.
