CTO Lahore Ensures Smooth Flow of Traffic Related Affairs

LAHORE: The supply of services connected to traffic, such as licenses, and keeping a smooth flow of traffic on the highways are the Lahore traffic police’s top priorities, according to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Capt (r) Mustansar Feroze.

After taking over as the CTO at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh, he addressed a news conference and promised that traffic laws and rules would be rigorously enforced to safeguard people’s lives.

He said that the behavior of traffic wardens interacting with drivers would significantly improve and that the Punjab Safe Cities cameras would be used to monitor the traffic wardens to achieve this.

According to the CTO, there are now 7.2 million registered vehicles in the province capital, making it difficult to manage the traffic situation as more vehicles are added.

He raised alarm about the fact that more than 70% of the drivers of the cars lacked proper licenses, adding that, the ‘Wear Helmet Campaign’ would be launched for a week in the provincial capital to raise awareness of safety and the usage of helmets when riding motorbikes.

The CTO stated that additional driving license centers would be constructed so that more people could be assisted at the earliest.

Mustansar claimed that although continuing construction work occasionally disrupted traffic flow, the traffic wardens were doing their jobs well to keep things moving.

Besides, he also stated that crackdowns would also be undertaken against professional beggars, illegal parking spots, and encroachments.

Additionally, he said that traffic choke spots would be carefully examined to develop a comprehensive plan to prevent traffic jams on crucial thoroughfares, and that more traffic cops would be stationed on the roads during peak traffic times.

While responding to a query, the CTO claimed that no traffic warden would be assigned a specific number of challans to issue, and with such corrupt tactics, the traffic wardens would face strict punishment.
