Faisalabad Development Authority to Invest Rs. 3 billion in Urban Development Initiatives

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) is set to embark on two ambitious projects aimed at enhancing the city’s infrastructure and addressing traffic congestion.

These projects, with an estimated cost of Rs. 3 billion, include the construction of the Abdullah Pur-Jhumra Road Flyover and the expansion of Sheikhupura Road.

FDA Chief Engineer Mehar Ayub provided a comprehensive briefing to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh regarding the details and scope of these significant initiatives.

Furthermore, Sheikh also visited the project sites to oversee both the administrative and technical aspects, accompanied by Deputy Director Development Rana Tahir, Deputy Director Engineering FDA Umer Iqbal, and other officials.

The Abdullah Pur-Jhumra Road Flyover, expected to cost Rs. 1.36 billion, aims to address the longstanding traffic congestion issue at the turning point of the Abdullah Pur Overhead Bridge, facilitating smoother traffic flow towards Jhumra Road.

The 0.75-kilometer-long flyover will begin at Railway Colony Tariqabad, adjacent to the old Abdullah Pur Overhead Bridge, and terminate at Jhumra Road, providing improved access for commuters heading to Mansoor Abad and Jhumra Road.

According to Chief Engineer Ayub, the FDA is swiftly completing the necessary departmental processes, including contractor pre-qualification and project tendering, to expedite the flyover’s construction.

Additionally, Sheikhupura Road will undergo rehabilitation and expansion from Nishatabad Overhead Bridge to Gattwala, with an allocated budget of Rs. 1.51 billion.

This three-lane road project, recently approved by the provincial cabinet standing committee, will include rehabilitating the existing road, adding a 10-foot lane, installing tuff tiles, constructing footpaths, and enhancing drainage on both sides.
