FGEHA Approves Missing Link for Water Supply in Sectors G-13, G-14

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) is set to construct the missing link of the primary water supply line from the Shah Allah Ditta reservoir.

The move aims to ensure a sustainable water supply system in sectors G-13 and G-14 as the FGEHA approved the PC-I for the missing 2 km link to complete the 14 km long main water conduction line.

According to sources, the residents in sectors G-13 and G-14 have been struggling with a severe shortage of drinking water for many years, and groundwater and a few tube wells have been their only sources of water.

The FGEHA aims to address this issue with a year-long project, which will add 1 MGD of water from Khanpur Dam to the 2.5 MGD water shortage currently experienced in the region.

The officials stated that the project would prioritize the development of the missing link and integrate the two sectors into the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) water supply network.

CDA currently provides discounted water tankers to residents, but with the completion of the missing link, the water supply system is expected to improve.

The FGEHA’s approval of the PC-I will ensure a permanent water supply system in sectors G-13 and G-14, significantly improving the quality of life for residents in the area.

  1. Sector G-15 is also facing the same problem. G-13 and G-14 are getting subsidized water supply but no subsidy for G-15 residents. Nobody seems to be responsible. Among many other problems, water is the most and top priority problem. Hot season has just arrived. Last summer the water tanker cost was about Rs..2500. This summer it is expected about Rs.3500/4000 per tanker.
