FIA Books 6 CDA Officers for Assisting Land Encroachment in E-11

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has filed a case against six senior officers of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for colluding with a housing society to encroach upon a natural nullah in Islamabad.

According to sources, the inquiry started in 2012 and after 10 years of investigation, the FIA found the officers guilty and registered an FIR.

As per the initial details, the officers involved are former Member Planning and Design Abdul Aziz Qureshi, former DG Planning CDA Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu, former Director Societies Abdul Haq Brohi, former Deputy Director Zafar Iqbal, Zafar Housing Society, and President Shahid Yaqub Chaudhry.

The sources claimed that the society, with the help of these officials, reduced the 70-foot wide natural drain to only 18 feet, with the NOC approved and canceled three times, despite not having the required land.

Furthermore, the investigation revealed that the Pakistan Medical Housing Society, according to CDA records, had 178 Kanal and 6 marlas of land, but the NOC was issued for 256 Kanal.

The officers involved in the scheme sold valuable commercial and residential plots by occupying the natural drain site for three sectors E-11, D-12, and E-12 of Islamabad, against CDA regulations.

Besides, it was also discovered that the natural drain encroachment caused flooding during the recent torrential rains of 2022.

This practice in CDA started in 2008 and continued till 2016, causing loss of life and damage to property, according to the investigation report of FIA.

  1. Ok then??? what did cda n fia do to resolve these issues?.. whole e11 should be redeveloped.. illegal marquees should be removed.. no such action has taken place so far…all word’s nothing else
