KARACHI: Rafiq Ahmed Jamali, Chairman of the Gorakh Hills Development Authority (GHDA), has highlighted the ongoing development initiatives at Gorakh Hills aimed at enhancing tourist facilities and ensuring their safety.
In a statement issued, he provided insights into the progress made in the area to create a favorable environment for visitors.
Over the last nine years, a significant investment of Rs. 3 billion has been allocated to GHDA for a range of development projects.
These endeavors include the construction of essential infrastructure such as roads, rest houses, family resorts, tourist hostels, restaurants, mosques, dispensaries, and recreational amenities.
Jamali noted that a crucial development was the creation of a 35-km road from Wahi Pandhi Town, designed for Rs. 1,000 million, to enhance the safety of travel for tourists.
Moreover, the area has seen the establishment of connecting roads between different viewpoints and the development of tracks to facilitate movement.
Regarding accommodation facilities, he revealed that several comfortable options have been erected across the hill station.
These include six furnished duplex family resorts, an 8-room tourist hostel, a PD rest house, a fiberglass rest house, and huts, each equipped with supplementary amenities like a mosque, event space, restaurant, tuck shop, cricket ground, and a children’s play area.
To meet energy needs, a solar power system has been integrated into power huts, resorts, and restaurants.
Additionally, a dispensary is operational in the vicinity, catering to medical requirements with provisions for both doctors and other staff members.
Furthermore, the construction of 8 reservoir tanks and associated pumping stations to ensure a consistent water supply at elevations ranging from 5,000 to 6,000 feet.
Jamali reaffirmed the commitment to elevate Gorakh Hill Station as a premier tourist destination in Pakistan, particularly for the people of Sindh.
