Government Allocates PKR 950Mn for Restoration of GT Road in Haripur

HARIPUR: The federal government has set aside PKR 950 million to reconstruct and renovate a portion of GT Road that runs through Haripur.

The GT Road Haripur project will rebuild a 26-kilometer road between Jhari Kas and Shah Maqsood. The project is divided into three sections.

According to Project Concept-1 (PC-1), a 9.5-kilometer-long road from Jhari Kass to Panian, a 6.5-kilometer-long road from Panian to Darwesh, and a 9.5-kilometer-long road from Darwesh to Shah Maqsood will be restored.

The first segment has already begun, and the second section work order is likely to be issued within the next few days.

The reconstruction is expected to take six months to complete.

The government approved the widening of the Daidan Bridge on the GT Route in 2018 after the National Highway Authority (NHA) widened the road between Abbottabad and Haripur city earlier.

This development drastically decreased commuter travel time and contributed to a reduction in traffic accidents.

  1. God knows when this road is reconstructed. It’s the third time sum is allocated for the project. The travelling around haripur is getting sickening due to unplanned work.
