ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of the Capital Development Authority, Noor ul Amin Mengal, has recently shared a video update on the progress of the ongoing rehabilitation and widening of the IJP Road.

The video, which was shared on his official Twitter account, showcases the developments that have taken place over the past week.

The footage provides a glimpse of the construction work underway, highlighting the significant changes made to the road’s infrastructure.

The project aims to improve traffic flow on the busy IJP Road, a major artery in the capital city of Islamabad.

The rehabilitation and widening of the IJP Road are seen as a vital infrastructure project that will benefit the local community and commuters alike.

    It is suggested to build proper U turn at Khayaban e sir Syed, New kararian & Dhoke Hassu for local crossing to Islamabad

    1. Agreed. At the moment only temporary u turns at khayaban and near pindora which creates a lot of mess.

      I-9 / I-10 service road to IJP access is mostly closed , so only CDA Chowk or 9 avenue access to IJP is too messy

        1. Shabaz group can afford freeway but the locals living on both sides of the road belong to middle n lower middle class people, without appropriate u turns they vl travel longer distances increasing fuel burden.

          2. We understand that U-turns disturb flow of traffic and make it dangerous to drive, however fish belly (or Kashmir highway style u-turns) may be planned although road width is very less

        4. Besides dual carriageway from Faizabad to Peshawer road 🛣️ or even further on towards west matro bus services facility must be provided side by side from airport to Faizabad . Now it’s high time to abolish Faizabad n pirwadhai multai directions intercity bus , wagon n coach services by splitting into direction based such terminals separately towards west n kpk , south M1 , north n taxila murree n Kashmir and towards east for GT road and purposed motorway parallel to existing GT road . The venues of these terminals can be recommended at ternol , taxila , chakri road , barakahu , khanapul , koral chowk , kokpul sihala n rawat according to the four side directions .all the rest inside twin cities liable to be closed.

  4. Alhamd ullillah, after a long time the residents of twin city have been gifted with this project. Salute to all concerned. Fish belly U turns shoud be added for said pur road and katarian at suitable places.
    Rawalpindi ring road should be the next project to avoid wear and tear of this road.

    1. At least install road lights and it’s time for Government to built Lai Expressway. Once completed than it’s will take 15 min time between Pindi Islamabad .

  6. No doubt, completion of this project has provided relief to the community / citizens of twin cities. However, the administrators of both cities should keep in mind survey of “Dhoke Mustakeem” near koi-e-noor taxtile mil. By construction of an elevated road which is not over than half kilometre, this road may be used as alternative of Sarinagar Highway for Airport through I-14,I-15, I-16. As Sarinagar Highway is often blocked by the protestors at G-11 point.

  7. Please make sure heavy traffic to remain on extreme left track specifically prepared for that purpose, otherwise road with be deteriorated again within six months i am afraid..Overall it’s a great project

  8. The distance from PTCL exchange to Mandi morr is 3kms and there is no U-turn in between for NUTech University, westridge, RC Factory and Dhok Hasu.
    Similarly, there is an intense need of U-Turn for people commuting in Khaybaan, Saidpur road and satellite town. As people are adopting wrong way to access these places which is not only dangerous for vehicles but also for pedestrians.
    At least 4-5 pedestrian bridges are also required at Kacha Stop, Dhok Hasu, Pirwadayi Bus stop, Khayaban, Pindora Stop etc.

  9. . Due to shortage of u turns, there is traffic rules violation. Now single road is used as both sides traffic.
    . Heavy traffic uses right most side of the road instead of using left most side.
    . Trucks are parked along the road.
    . Traffic flow hinderance due to busses, weagons stop at main road.
    Is there anybosy to look it.

  10. A good project, off course. However, widening of the roads is not the only solution to improve traffic flow. We need to improve traffic flow without adding new lanes. It can be done by managing drivers, changing their driving habits and, number of other traffic managing tools.

    1. Suggestions of Dr. Hayat Khan are seconded. With suggested u-turns the traffic police will be able to enforce discipline. Presently, motorbikes and Rickshaws are dangerously crossing over the beautifully made centre divider.
      Furthermore, the blocks placed right at the start of IJP from the Peshawar Road end are dangerous and not in conformity with any traffic rule. On the turning towards Sabzi Mandi, the police kiosk is usually unmanned or the attendant is watching U-Tube but the road blocks are still in place, happily restricting free flow of traffic. These impediments need to be removed forthwith for the sake of traffic safety.
      Also, heavy traffic is freely using the asphalt top part of the road instead of the concrete side meant for it. No policing is being observed. The life of the asphalt track will deteriorate much quicker than its calling and it’s overlay would again become necessary much earlier than the Project time may allow. These aspects need early attention of the authorities please.

  11. U-TURNS and pedestrian/motorcyclist bridges at appropriate distance are the dire need to be built on IJP road.

  12. More Proper U-Turns are needed and also proper crossings for motorcycles are needed. Very risk for motorcyclist to travel

  13. U turns r required. otherwise there will be traffic jam on double road, as the residents of khayaban, katarian etc will take u turn from double road. Moreover, it will be time consuming and fuel consuming too.

Residents of F block are suffering too much as the u turn is about 2km ….in the present petrol price hike …its another exam for the Residents….plus in the morning they hav to go to Islamabad to their work place …..which has now become a nightmare….after about more than 3 years suffering it came up as another hurdle…..plus the work is so slow ….Margala events completed in less than 3 months but its still incomplete even after 3 years ….

  16. Thumbs up for this project. Next project should be of repairing of service road, Shakrial East as it is the major road for transportation.

  17. My brutally honest opinion about the present Chairm CDA is, professional, efficient and effective with no-nonsense temperament and that he demands results only.
    My big word of encouragement and praise for improvements that are visible and despite no magic stick in hand, but dedication and hardwork.

  18. There is a big blunder in this project and it will be a backlash once the road will be fully functional.
    At double road chowk only one lane space left for traffic taking turn from H9, I9 side to faizabad whereas the traffic flow on that route is going to jam traffic and long lines in peak hours.

  19. For such a huge project, a better planning was neeeded. Planners squarely ignored creation of u-turns to facilitate population living across IJP. In the absence of genuine uturns chances of road accidents will grow. The project will not be user friendly unless uturns are created properly.

  20. Fly over was more useful at mandi mor/ peer wadhaee stop rather than Faqir Aepee road. Now traffic will always stuck at peer wadhaee.
    Further should make protected U-turns like Siri Nagar highway n make IJP a signal free road.
    Over head bridges for bikes n people are mandatory.

  21. Get it completed as soon as possible, as crossing of double road , under the bridge, is such a difficult task as the heavy traffic goes through and often there is a traffic jam there .

  22. After all the effort, the trucks are seen plying on the right 2 lanes normally. Concrete road is not used by trucks normally as it is occupied by busses and wagons at stops. It is already a chaos and all the effort will be lost if traffic not regulated.
    PS. The reflectors placed between concrete and other lanes is very damaging for car tyres and make no difference to the trucks
