IHC Allows CDA to Resume Work on Bara Kahu Bypass

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has allowed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to resume construction work on the Bara Kahu Bypass on the Quaid-e-Azam University’s land.

This happened as the IHC judge Miangul Hassan Aurangzaib ordered the dismissal of several petitions that the QAU officials submitted.

As per the details, the court issued the resume orders stating that the project was legal as the authorities successfully obtained approval from the concerned authorities, including Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) from the Pakistan Environment Protection Agency (EPA).

The Court was also informed that the project was part of the CDA’s master plan that would aid in preventing traffic bottlenecks.

It is important to note that the project will also include a 1-kilometer flyover that will start from Murree Road near the QAU stop and end near the Jugi bus stop.

On 30th September, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Bara Kahu bypass project and instructed the National Logistic Cell (NLC) to complete the project in 3 months.

Comments

  1. National cause must be preferred upon personal choices and masses should be given priority upon a few land grabbers- if the issue had been given priority by the courts the project have been close to completion by so far which a large population have lauded.

  2. Master plans all over the world are public documents and are always subject to public opinion!! Is that the case with the CDA madter plan? These projects are launched without having an actual master plan for the cities and without having plans for having a complete network of public transport system!! Just a way to make bucks for the so called development authority and their consultants and the contractor and a cheap yet expensive advertisement for the governments!!

  3. More or often when universities are destroyed on the name of public welfare, I am afraid, this country will continue to suffer by the contractors and they are also in power for selling their own vested interest.

    1. No one other than the person who travel on this route can feel the difficulties people face
Time will prove it is an excellent project. University will get more than enough land against the land given for this project. This is piece of land .there is no construction over there. In the long run university people will enjoy the most benefits. Kindly consider it for the relief of those who are permanent user of congested bara kaho Road, especially people of murree and azad kashmir. University students will be there for couple of years then go away.

  4. A cost effective alternative is complete removal of all road side encroachments and ensuring a non stop central lane for murree traffic starting from before Bhara Kahu and ending near the start of express way. Strict implementation of traffic laws will ensure smooth traffic.

  5. Bypass is a good project near Islamabad PML N has taken initiated to construct as usual very very effective project for local aw well as Murree and Muzaffarabad

  6. It’s totally rubbish that JUSTICE ⚖️ MR. MIANGUL SB., ORDERED TO RESUME WORK AT BARA KAHU BYPASS ENCROACHING OVER 1 KM LAND OF QUAID E AZAM UNIVERSITY ISLAMABAD

IF THE CDA ISLAMABAD IS SO MUCH CONCERNED ABOUT PUBLIC FACILITIES THEN HOW OVER 100 ILLEGAL UNAPPROVED HOUSING SOCIETIES ARE FUNCTIONING & MARKETING THESE ENCROACHED LAND OF CDA

WHETHER JUSTICE ♎ MR. MIANGUL SB., WILL ALSO LOOK INTO THESE 100 ILLEGALLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION SOCIETIES WHO HAD COLLECTED BILLIONS OF RUPEES??????

  7. This project reduce traffic problems and bring prosperity in local area and safe time of people who are going every day for their job, colleges and schools.
