Islamabad Safe City Project Gets Approval for 185 New Surveillance Cameras

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Commissioner of Islamabad has approved the installation of 185 new surveillance cameras to enhance the surveillance and monitoring of the federal capital.

As per the details, this approval will expand the scope of the Islamabad Safe City project from the Srinagar Highway to the Airport.

As per the police source, with the addition of new cameras, the total number of cameras in the Islamabad Safe City project will exceed 2,700.

During the last 11 months, the Safe City project has increased the number of cameras up to 1,100 due to the special interest of Minister for Interior, Rana Sanaullah Khan.

The extension of the Safe City Islamabad from Srinagar Highway to the Airport is being carried out on the Interior Minister’s directions.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan stated that the installation of these new cameras will be beneficial in ensuring the security of the New Zealand cricket team’s visit to Pakistan.

He added that the installation process of new cameras will be completed shortly, increasing the monitoring and surveillance of the city.
