The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) will oversee the auction of the planning wing’s approved vending points.

Successful bidders will receive a 10-year license for operating the vending points, which will be constructed with a specific design to enhance the beauty of Islamabad.

However, there will be no seating arrangements provided, as this could lead to encroachment of state land.

The MCI will provide a design to the successful bidder to set up the vending points accordingly.

As per the details, the move is expected to generate economic activity and help the CDA eliminate encroachment from public areas.

The previous allotment of kiosks was marred by controversy, with allegations of favoritism and corruption.

In addition to vending points, there is also a need to set up play areas in parks through a competitive process to generate revenue.

A new committee has also been formed to identify new sites for vending points, which will also be leased out through open auction.
