ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Noor Ul Amin Mengal, recently took to his official Twitter account to announce an important waste management development within Islamabad.
According to his statement, the current designated transfer station for the CDA is being utilized as a temporary facility to store waste collected from various areas in Islamabad before it is ultimately disposed of at the Losar Land filling site near Rawat, located in the District of Rawalpindi.

Acknowledging the growing concerns regarding waste disposal and ensuring more efficient waste management practices, Chairman Mengal revealed that a new transfer station is currently under construction.
The purpose of this facility is to alleviate the issue of dumping excess waste at the alleged transfer station, which has been a cause for concern among residents and environmentalists.
With Islamabad’s rapid urbanization and population growth, proper waste management has become a pressing issue.
The CDA’s designated transfer station plays a crucial role in handling the waste generated within the city.
As the new transfer station nears completion, it is expected to significantly enhance waste management operations in Islamabad.
The increased capacity and upgraded facilities will allow for more efficient waste handling, reducing the existing transfer station’s burden and minimizing the overflow risk.
I live in sector I-10/2, and very bad smell of waste is spread all over the sector. Chairman of CDA is not aware of this situation. I have humble request to chairman that please order to sanitation department that don’t dump the all waste of Islamabad on this area.
