KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has declared that journalists in the city will be exempted from parking fees.
During his visit to the Karachi Press Club (KPC), Mayor Wahab, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, made the announcement, stating that journalists would not be required to pay parking fees across Karachi.
Furthermore, Mayor Wahab assured the continuation and increase of grants provided to the KPC.
He admired the KPC’s longstanding tradition and hoped it would continue to be a vibrant and influential voice for democracy. He emphasized his connection to the KPC, stating that it felt like home to him as the son of a journalist.
Wahab also acknowledged that resolving the challenges accumulated over the past 75 years would take time but assured that his administration was dedicated to making practical improvements.
He pledged to conduct affairs transparently and fairly throughout his four-year term.
The Karachi Press Club expressed gratitude to Barrister Murtaza Wahab by presenting him with a Sindhi Ajrak, cap, and flowers.
The mayor also visited different departments within the press club during his visit.
During the meeting, KPC President Saeed Sarbazi and Secretary Shoaib Ahmed highlighted the water connection issues faced in the Hawkes Bay 42 housing scheme of the Press Club.
They expressed hope that the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, being members of the Karachi Press Club through their ancestors, would prioritize resolving the club’s problems.
