KDA Demolishes Over 50 More Houses in Mujahid Colony

KARACHI: The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) razed down almost 50 more houses in district central’s Mujahid Colony, despite opposition from the locals and political organizations.

As per the details, during the anti-encroachment operation, which was initiated a month ago, the anti-encroachment team of the KDA’s estate and enforcement department has so far demolished over 250 houses, drawing outcry from the locals.

The officials informed that the operation at Mujahid Colony would continue until all encroachments were removed, as the master plan called for a 150-foot-wide road to be built from Nazimabad No. 7 to Ziauddin Hospital in North Nazimabad.

Surprisingly, the Director of KDA stated that the district administration and KDA officials were surveying the demolished houses and gathering information on the affected people who would be given alternate housing.

It is to note here that, according to the Sindh Property Removal of Encroachment Act, 2010, “the officers of the KDA estate and enforcement department have been delegated powers to take action against illegal occupants of the state land” so that effective action could be taken against encroachments as instructed by the Supreme Court.
