KARACHI: On the orders of the Director General (DG) of Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Syed Mohammad Ali Shah, the Department of State and Enforcement demolished more than 500 slum huts in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 1 and took possession of the land.
As per the sources, the city’s indiscriminate campaign to cleanse all government lands of encroachments is still ongoing.
Furthermore, to cope with any untoward incident, local government, police, and Rangers troops were present during the operation along with KDA officers.
Additional Director of State and Enforcement, Jameel Baloch stated that the operation was carried out close to the University of Karachi (KU) in response to a complaint from the administration of the university.
He said that the area had been entirely cleared and the anti-encroachment division right away put in place a surveillance system, to monitor any encroachment activity.
Besides, DG KDA Syed Mohammad Ali Shah reportedly stated that no interference would be permitted during the fight against encroachment and the KDA lands would not be allowed to be used for illicit purposes.
The Department of State and Enforcement announced a timeline for the operation against encroachment on KDA property around the city, which will go through January 18.
