KMC Asks Owners to Facelift the Buildings on Main Highways

KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has ordered that owners of houses, businesses, and apartments constructed along major highways renovate and redecorate the exteriors of their structures.

The spokesperson of KMC stated, “If the directives are not met, the KMC will take action under Chapter 15 Section (132) and Schedule VI of the Sindh Local Government Act 2013.”

According to the details, the owners of the buildings along the 8 highways of the city, including Sharah-e-Faisal, Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Abdullah Haroon, Sher Shah, Sir Shah Sulaiman, Ibn-e-Sina, Rashid Minhas, and SM Taufiq were initially instructed to repair the exterior of their respective structures.

The sources claim that the directives came with the aim to enhance the appearance of the city’s main roads and other highways.

Murtaza Wahab, the Administrator of Karachi, stated that the city’s residential, commercial, and business centers located on many of its major roads have not received adequate attention due to the law and order situation.

The administrator also clarified that being the largest local government entity in the city, KMC has the authority to compel building owners to maintain their structures in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
