LDA Approves Free Allotment of 57 Kanals for 100-Bed Hospital

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has approved the allocation of 57 kanals of land, located next to the old fruit and vegetable market, to the Special Healthcare and Medical Education Department for the construction of a 100-bed hospital.

The land, which was previously approved for allotment for over PKR 2 billion, was not paid for by the department and has now been given to them for free.

The fruit and vegetable market was established in 1978 and was shifted from Kot Lakhpat to Gajjumata in 2011.

The land was acquired in 2017 for Rs 8.82 billion and was originally intended for commercial use.

However, due to the department’s failure to pay for the land, it was canceled in June 2022.

The chief minister later directed LDA to rationalize the land usage for the hospital through vertical construction and divide it into three parts, one for the hospital, one for the LDA, and one for an IT tower construction.
