ISLAMABAD: A subcommittee of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Housing and Works was established to examine instances involving the leasing of commercial spaces, the distribution of housing, and other related issues.
As per the details, Ibadullah Khan presided over a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Housing and Works on Wednesday at Parliament House.
According to the Director General of the Estate Office, the Federal Government’s housing allocation over the previous 3 months was made on the General Waiting List according to all the regulations and merit.
He gave a comprehensive list of all applications for Federal Government housing, General Waiting List housing, and non-occupied Government housing on the allocation on the General Waiting List.
Furthermore, the Estate Office’s leasing of commercial properties in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta as well as recovery details, were also disclosed before the committee.
Besides, the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority’s (FGEHA) Director General gave the Committee an update on the organization’s initiatives, including the Thalian, Bara Kahu, and Skyline apartments.
He also notified the committee of the ensuing delay in giving the applicants ownership of the plots and flats.
Additionally, he briefed the officials on the number of applications and the allocation of plots in the housing plans started by FGEHA.
Similarly, Pakistan Public Works Director General (Pak. PWD) provided an update on the committee’s prior recommendation as well.
He stated that all executive engineers had received instructions stating that in the future, completion certifications for development projects of Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) shall only be provided if the MNA in question was satisfied.
The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) Director General, Director General PWD, Director General Estate, Estate Office, Islamabad, and officials from the Ministry of Housing and Works attended the meeting.
