NAB Recovers Rs440 Million in ‘Model Housing Scheme’ Scandal

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Lahore has successfully recovered Rs. 440 million in a high-profile corruption case involving the owner of the Model Housing Scheme.

The NAB had previously frozen 22 kanal of land as part of the investigation, and now the Accountability Court in Lahore has approved the sale of the property for Rs. 440 million.

According to the court’s orders, Rs. 50 million will be deposited in the name of the NAB chairman, while the remaining Rs390 million is expected to be received within seven days.

It is worth noting that the corruption reference was initially filed by NAB Lahore, accusing the housing society owner of cheating the public at large.

Throughout the inquiry and investigation, approximately 275 victims came forward to claim their money, highlighting the extent of the fraudulent activities involved.

In 2019, following a thorough investigation, NAB filed a corruption reference in the accountability court in Lahore, with the housing society owner as the primary accused.

Now, with the approval of the property sale, the recovered amount will be distributed among the 275 victims, providing them with some restitution for their losses.
